Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Speako, including the mobile application and the website at https://speako.run.place (the “Service”), operated by Ibra BDH (“we,” “us,” or “our”).

By creating an account or using Speako, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Speako helps you practice Chinese by converting text to speech, showing pinyin, supporting pronunciation recording, and saving favorites and folders. Features may change, and we may modify or discontinue parts of the Service with reasonable notice when practical.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required where you live) to use Speako. You are responsible for your account credentials and for activity under your account. Provide accurate registration information and keep your password confidential. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use Speako for unlawful, harmful, or fraudulent purposes;
  • Attempt to disrupt, reverse engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or related systems;
  • Abuse rate limits, scrape, or overload our speech or API infrastructure;
  • Upload or generate content that infringes others’ rights or that you do not have the right to process;
  • Misrepresent your identity or affiliation with Speako.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that risk harm to the Service or other users.

4. Your content

You retain ownership of text, recordings, and other content you submit (“Your Content”). You grant us a limited license to host, process, transmit, and display Your Content solely to operate and improve Speako for you (including generating speech and storing favorites).

You represent that you have the rights needed to submit Your Content and that doing so does not violate law or third-party rights.

5. Our intellectual property

Speako, including its name, branding, software, and design, is owned by us or our licensors. These Terms do not grant you any right to use our trademarks except as needed to identify Speako in connection with legitimate use of the Service.

6. Third-party services

Speako may rely on hosting, storage, and other providers. Your use of device platforms (such as the App Store) is also subject to those platforms’ terms. We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.

7. Disclaimers

Speako is provided “as is” and “as available.” Speech output, pinyin, and translations may contain errors. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or free of defects. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ibra BDH and Speako will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amounts you paid us for Speako in the twelve months before the claim or (b) USD $50, if you have not paid us.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those places, our liability is limited to the maximum extent allowed.

9. Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify us against claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from Your Content or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

10. Termination

You may stop using Speako and request account deletion at any time via speako.run.place/delete-account. We may suspend or end access if you breach these Terms or if we wind down the Service. Sections that by nature should survive (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnity) will survive termination.

11. Changes to the Terms

We may update these Terms by posting a revised version on this page and updating the effective date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree, stop using Speako.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to the operator’s principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory consumer protections in your country apply. Courts in a competent jurisdiction may hear disputes, without limiting any rights you have under local law.
